Residency Opportunities at Lauriston Estate Victoria

We have two types of residency opportunities this Summer.

An Artist in Residence and a Musician in Residence

Lauriston Estate is a lovely place to purify your mind and soul… there is a forest, animals, gardens and most of all space to breathe!

Artist in Residence
Ideally, we are looking for a painter. Plein air, still life, rustic scenes, animals, flowers abound. If this is your genre get in touch. Our workshop is packed with easels, artists supplies even a pottery wheel…

Musician in Residence

Ideally, we are looking for a pianist to utilise our Yahama C-7 concert grand piano. We have clarinets too. Jazz and classical are our preferred music genres so if this suits you please apply straight away.

Enjoy the Estate Lifestyle

Live for one month on a stunning 104 acre biodiverse property. There is a luxury five bedroom Lodge overlooking a dam lake and a farm house Cottage nestled in its own orchard, a fledgling Cabernet Rosé vineyard, an olive grove, market garden, various small orchards, two poly tunnels, two large sheds, sheep and goats live in the seven fenced paddocks on the twelve hectares of cultivated 'home farm' land, hayfields and a forest lie beyond. Kangaroos, echidnas and abundant birdlife frequent the property.

Capturing the best of the Australian and Mediterranean lifestyles, Lauriston Estate is created with self-sufficiency, privacy and practicality in mind. Well located being a little over an hour’s drive to three different cities and an international airport and just 12 minutes’ drive to bustling and historical Piper St, Kyneton with its restaurants, galleries and markets. A V-line fast train runs from Kyneton on the hour to Melbourne and Bendigo. Some of Victoria’s best villages – Daylesford, Trentham, Castlemaine and Maldon are under 30 minutes’ drive away as well as waterfalls, reservoirs and rivers. Over 20 different wineries are nearby and Mingela Polo Club is just 11 minutes away.

On the estate there are bicycles and a boat that can be utilised.

Living on the Estate

You will have a private ensuite room in the Lodge. All meals and great coffee!  Excellent wifi. Items to get you started on your residency journey…

The Residency

For a one month residency, you will enjoy living in a luxury Lodge in the Macedon Ranges, an award winning chef cooking your meals from fresh produce from the estate and neighbouring farms. Strolling the grounds, walking the estate and vineyards, boating, fishing and swimming in the dam lake. We will support and nurture you as the artist you wish to be but expect four hours of ‘your work commitment’ each day…in return. Too much? We think having the structure, targets and purity of mind not to worry about anything but creating is worth it!

We would also like a piece of work from the artist and a one hour recital for the end of residency party from the musician.

About Us

We are two older, creative people living on a biodiverse, sustainable estate in the Macedon Ranges, 1 hour from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. We would love to share our place with equally creative people and this is why we are offering the residencies in early 2021. We are keen not to make any long term plans, so if you are interested in a residency apply now. It will happen fast!

Tracey is an award-winning chef and caterer having worked in palaces and for blue chip companies in Europe. Tracey has an interest in art, antiques, European history, food and travel.

Derek is an electrical engineer and inventor. He is an aerobatic pilot and ocean yacht sailor. Derek loves classical and jazz music and attempts to play the clarinet. He can fix or make anything given enough incentive. His skills abound!

We both love nature particularly the thriving bird life that exists on Lauriston Estate. We live life to full and love adventure, so 2020 has been quite slow for us…

If you’re looking for a new adventure this coming year don’t hesitate to contact us.
